Uzalo Actress Gugu Gumede Vows To Serve The National Freedom Party In Honour Of Her Late Mother. Actress and businesswoman Gugu Gumede recently lost her mother Zanele Magwaza Msibi who was the founder and leader of the National Freedom Party (NFP). Gugu and her mother had a very close relationship and the actress was heartbroken about her mothers passing.
Msibi was admitted to Umhlanga hospital in Durban where she stayed for two weeks until she passed after suffering a fatal cardiac arrest as a result of COVID-19 related complications. The actress is now vowing to continue her mother legacy and hard work by devoting her services to the NFP.
According to the Daily Sun publication the actress has already begun addressing supporters at the party’s manifesto launch in Nangoma, KZN. the actress has stressed that she is not a celebrity but a simple servant when working with the party.
“I will be first to clear this up. I am not MaMlambo but a proud NFP member. This is the party that was led by a leader without a single corruption mark against her. A true definition of a leader” she said.
Gumede has shared how her mother is now a guardian angel that will lead the party through the journey. Gugu believes her mother’s fighting spirit has doubled in strength now that she is an ancestor and has no doubt they are in good hands.
The NFP was disqualified from the elections in 2016 due after failing to pay election fees at the IEC and Gugu is grateful that the party kept the fight going none the less. This is proof that the members are indeed loyal to her mother and the cause.
The actress has assured the people in the Zululand municipality that they will fight for the basic services that the community has been denied for the passed five years.
“We are going to vote and vote for the NFP. We get everything that belongs to us. For the past five years the Zululand district municipality has failed to deliver basic services. Our time has come to take over where we left when we lost power” she said.
Gumede penned a lengthy heartfelt note on Instagram dedicated to her mom sharing that nobody ever wishes to lose a mother but it’s just part of life. She continued to share all the amazing roles that her mother played in her and her siblings lives, expressing how grateful she is to have experienced a love so strong.
