Cricket South Africa (CSA) have confirmed that its long-standing commercial partner, Momentum, will conclude its sponsorship of the Proteas Women’s team at the end of April.
This partnership, which has flourished over the past 13 years, has played a pivotal role in the revitalisation and professionalisation of women’s cricket in South Africa.
Throughout the duration of their collaboration, Momentum has been instrumental in nurturing young talent and fostering growth within the women’s game, aligning closely with CSA’s values of access and inclusion.
This commitment is evident through their support across various programme pipelines, ranging from boys’ schools to community cricket initiatives, and notably sponsorships of the South Africa U19 women’s team, which has paved the way for the emergence of the Proteas Women.

CSA Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki expressed profound gratitude for the tireless efforts made by Momentum in championing female cricketers and fostering youth talent.
“We express our sincere appreciation for the efforts Momentum made to empower our female cricketers and young talent over the years. Their commitment to women’s cricket has been exemplary,” he stated, acknowledging the positive impact the partnership has had on the development of the Proteas Women’s team, who have reached successive ICC T20 World Cup finals.
Moments of success aside, Nontokozo Madonsela, Chief Marketing Officer of Momentum Group, also highlighted the significance of their sponsorship in the professional advancement of women’s cricket in South Africa.
“We are exceptionally proud to have been instrumental in the professional advancement of women’s cricket… enhancing their visibility and commercial value, and contributing to their success,” she remarked, reflecting on the team’s evolution from an amateur setup to a fully professional squad boasting contracted players, dedicated coaching, and management support.
As the partnership draws to a close, both parties seem enthusiastic about the legacy they built together. Madonsela pointed out that despite the end of this chapter, the love for cricket and the inspiration sparked among young female players will last for years to come.
“Our journey may have come to an end, but our love of cricket and the legacy of what we have achieved together will remain one of our proudest achievements,” she concluded, reaffirming Momentum’s commitment to support the future of women’s cricket in South Africa.
