Cape Town’s discerning diners are in for a decadent treat this April with a one-night-only Whisky Pairing Evening at The Mint Restaurant & Wood-Fired Grill, located inside the elegant Taj Cape Town.
On Friday, 25 April, guests are invited to savour a thoughtfully curated four-course set menu, each dish expertly paired with a distinctive whisky from The Macallan range.
This immersive dining experience is a celebration of wood-fired flavours and whisky craftsmanship, promising to tantalise the senses and elevate the traditional tasting evening.
The journey begins with blue cheese-stuffed dates paired with Macallan 12, setting the tone for a luxurious evening.
The starter, a delicate smoked kudu ethereal, features layers of pickled pearl onions, rooibos tea gel, toasted hazelnuts, pear salsa, avocado, and baby arugula, paired with the smooth and balanced Macallan 15.
For mains, guests will be treated to beef short ribs accompanied by a velvety pumpkin maple paprika purée, grilled heirloom carrots, and broccolini, enhanced with a red wine and Macallan 18 reduction.
The pairing captures the rich, smoky essence of the grill while complementing the whisky’s bold character.
The evening ends on a decadent note with a whisky and dark chocolate torte, featuring a Macallan-infused ganache, crème anglaise, and honeycomb shard, served alongside the intense and aromatic Macallan Classic Cut.
Priced at R495 per person, this unique culinary and whisky pairing experience is available by reservation only, with limited seats on offer. Arrival is from 18:30, with dinner beginning promptly at 19:00.
