South African pop star Tyla has teamed up with Jamaican music icon Sean Paul for the remix of her hit song Push 2 Start. The remix is part of the deluxe edition of her debut self-titled album, alongside tracks like Shake Ah and Back to You. Tyla made the exciting announcement on February 15, 2025, via her social media.
Sean Paul, one of Jamaica’s biggest acts of the 2000s, is known for chart-topping hits like Temperature, Get Busy, and She Doesn’t Mind. Reflecting on the collaboration, Tyla shared her excitement in an interview with Billboard:
“Everyone loves Sean Paul; there are so many songs of his that I absolutely loved growing up,” she said. “All those songs are so nostalgic and special and vibey. I really wanted that feeling on the song. And he’s been speaking to me about wanting to do something, so I felt like this would be the perfect thing.”
After her massive success with Water, which won a Grammy, Push 2 Start became Tyla’s second song to make it onto the prestigious Billboard Hot 100. The track debuted on January 2, 2025, and stayed on the chart for two weeks, peaking at number 88.
Excitement is building for the release of the official music video for the Push 2 Start remix, which Tyla announced will drop next Monday. She shared the news on her social media with enthusiasm, saying, “MV out Mondayyyyyy @duttypaul. BTW I GOT MY FIRST SET OF CREDITTTTTS ON DIS ONEEEEEE.”
