Controversial music executive Nhlamulo Baloyi, popularly known as Nota, has been released from Johannesburg Prison, also known as Sun City, after serving just over two weeks of his 60-day sentence.

According to Sunday World, Baloyi is now under house detention with high-risk supervision until January 2025. His release follows a dramatic series of events that landed him behind bars earlier this month. Baloyi was initially taken into custody while attending a court hearing in Randburg on an unrelated rape case. However, his imprisonment stemmed from being found guilty of contempt of court in a case involving rapper K.O.

The conflict with K.O., real name Ntokozo Mdluli, began after Baloyi repeatedly defied a court order obtained by the SETE hitmaker. K.O. sought the order to prevent Baloyi from making allegations linking him to the murder of late rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes. The court order, seen by Sunday World, reads in part:

“The Sheriff of the court and the South African Police Service are directed to take the respondent into custody and to deliver the respondent to the Leeuwkop Prison or any other prison within Gauteng for a period of 60 days.”

The dispute escalated following the tragic murder of AKA on February 10, 2023, outside Wish Restaurant on Durban’s Florida Road. Baloyi alleged that K.O. and his family orchestrated the killing, further claiming that K.O.’s brother, Siya Mdluli—AKA’s road manager—was present at the scene of the shooting. Baloyi took to social media to air these accusations, prompting K.O. to secure a court interdict against him.
