In a bid to further integrate itself into the fabric of South Africa’s tourism landscape, Uber unveiled its latest initiative, #GiveGogoMzansi, at a screening event hosted at Egrek Cinema in Johannesburg on Thursday, October 17.

The screening was a visual feast of South Africa’s hidden gems, taking attendees on a tour through stunning landscapes with some of the nation’s social media personalities, all alongside their Gogos.

There was a series of thrilling adventures throughout the #GiveGogoMzansi campaign, including a hot air balloon ride over scenic vistas with social media star Lasizwe, his brother Lungile, and their Gogo, showcasing Mzansi’s landscapes from above.

Influencer Grace Mondlana and her Gogo were taken on a helicopter tour over the Magalies mountains, offering unforgettable panoramic views of South Africa’s stunning natural beauty.

As well as a Big 5 safari with content creator Vicky Jonas and her Gogo, providing an up-close look at the majestic wildlife in one of South Africa’s renowned game reserves.

Hosted by the award-winning poet, Bothale Boikanyo, the evening’s stories served as a compelling reminder of Uber’s central role in driving local tourism and they reinforced its dedication to connecting South Africans and visitors to the diverse, beautiful landscapes the country has to offer.

“Uber’s mission goes beyond simply offering rides, it’s about connecting people to opportunities and experiences,” said Cassie Jaganyi, Head of Communications at Uber.

“We want every individual South African, every community, and every visitor to experience the true wonders of this country, just as we’ve done with our Gogos,” added Jaganyi.

According to Uber, the company creates over R1 billion in additional value for the South Africa tourism industry each year and it will continue to position itself as a key player in ensuring locals and international visitors can easily access South Africa’s most remarkable destinations.

Just earlier this month, Uber announced its ‘Safari’ option for customers in Cape Town as part of its ‘Go Anywhere’ limited-edition travel products. From October 1 to February 1, people can book an epic day trip to a renowned game reserve, straight from the app.

A further highlight of Uber’s commitment to blend modern convenience with the stunning natural beauty of Mzansi, while supporting wildlife conservation efforts along the way.
