Everything you need to know about Netflix’s new local drama series, ‘Blood Legacy’

Known for producing world class entertainment Gambit Films has done yet another stellar performance – featuring South Africa’s golden stars.

Shot between Cape Town and Durban, Blood Legacy is Netflix’s new drama series that follows the mighty rich Ndlovu family that is at odds with each other after the sudden death of their tycoon father.

From afar the family portrays a tight knit relationship as they fight scandals off the newspapers – stemming from their father’s corruption ties.

Determine to clean the family’s legacy, Khanyi Adesina played by Sxolile Tshabalala goes to lengths to expose and cut ties with her father’s corrupt connections – which doesn’t sit well with her power hungry brother Mandla Ndlovu, who is played by Buyile Mdladla. Self absorbed and entitled Mandla starts to plot and scheme to sabotage Khanyi’s attempt at cleaning Spear Industry and goes far as partnering with the dangerous A6 group.

This gripping series shines a spotlight on the underworld and how they can easily infiltrate cooperate, demanding and killing anyone who’s on their way.

Trapped in his own nightmare is the family black sheep, Siya Ndlovu portrayed by the talented Mike Mawandla, who must come to terms with his own sexuality as he tries to appease his wife and his boyfriend. Played by Enhle Mbali, Gabisile Ndlovu will do anything to keep their sham marriage out of curios bystanders and vows to remain married to Siya regardless of his sexuality.

Every episode leaves you wanting more and eager to find out what happens next. The cast includes spectacular local actors, new and old faces that bring the series to life. The characters are able to expose the many issues that our country currently face, from corruption, gender based violence, crime etc.

Originally created by Mexican writer Diego Gutiérrez and adapted from Monarca, Blood Legacy stands as its own powerful force conveying relatable stories that will be equally loved by both local and international audience.

From the wardrobe, to location, and casting – the production exemplifies South Africa’s ability to compete in international stages, proving anything that come’s from our soil is beyond magic.
