Walter Sisulu University student Bulelani Sokupa is still missing.
Sokupa’s friends said he was last seen in a local pub on July 27.
The family has not lost hope and is praying for his safe return.
The fourth-year small business management student was wearing a black Relay T-shirt, navy jeans and flip-flops.
Sokupa, a member of the Pan Africanist Student Movement Of Azania (Pasma), was born in Qumbu, but his family lives in Mthatha.
Songezo Bala, Sokupa’s younger brother, said they first learnt of his disappearance when fellow students called to express their concern.
Bala and the rest of the family came to town on August 3.
“We first went to where he stays and to the places he liked to go to, the beach and outdoor parks, without any luck.
“We’ve had people telling us they’ve seen him, but when we get to the place unfortunately he’s not there.”
Bala said his brother’s disappearance had come as a shock.
“It is so unlike him to just disappear. The family is hurting, but because of the support we have been getting, we are hopeful that we will eventually find him.”
He described his brother as an outspoken individual dedicated to his studies.
Mandlenkosi Manjiya, a friend of Sokupa’s, said they had been searching for him tirelessly.
’We last saw him at a local pub, where he was with some friends. They left him that night but he never returned home.”
After several days had passed with no sign of Sokupa, they began to worry and started searching for him.
Their first port of call was the pub.
“From the CCTV footage, we saw him leaving the club. And then we could not see anything after that. We started searching and decided to open a missing person case.”
