Five Arrested For Possession Of Prohibited Firearm

Operatives of the South African Police Service have arrested five people who were in possession of prohibited firearms.

This was made known by the police service in a recent statement released and according to the statement, they were arrested on the Delft Main Road.

They were arrested on May 1 and their ages are between 27 and 35. The statement added that they will be appearing in a Magistrate’s Court today, May 3.

WESTERN CAPE – The rapid response by members of Maitland Flying Squad resulted in the arrest of five suspects for possession of prohibited firearm in Delft.

On Saturday afternoon, 01 May 2021, the members pulled over a vehicle on Delft Main Road that was allegedly used during a shooting that occurred at a funeral.

The vehicle was searched and a firearm, of which the serial number was removed, was found.

Five suspects aged between 27 and 35 were arrested and detained at Delft SAPS on a case of possession of prohibited firearm.

The suspects are due to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 03 May 2021 on the mentioned charges.”
