A man called Leo Kanyimo reportedly died in court after collapsing whilst waiting for his hearing on Friday.
According to NewZimbabwe.com, Leo Kanyimo, 38, was charged and convicted for murdering his wife and two children in cold blood.
The Spokesperson of Midlands Provincial Police, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, refused to comment and referred questions to national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, who was unavailable at that moment.
A police officer who accompanied Kanyimo from Nehanda police station told our source that the convict may have succumbed to multiple injuries he sustained from members of the community when they made several attempts to restrain him.
” When we got to the court premises, he appeared very unwell, ” the police officer disclosed.
” Apart from the stitched deep cuts on his head he also had severe bruises on his body and when we arrived just outside court cells he collapsed and gave up the ghost. ”
A media outlet, NewZimbabwe. com, got to the crew court when police officers were fighting to contain a huge crowd that were present at the court premises just to catch a glimpse of Kanyimo’ s remains which had been covered with a blanket.
The remains of Leo Kanyimo were later taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital mortuary for preservation.
