South African actress and TV host Pearl Modiadie recently had a once-in-a-lifetime experience in China, where she hosted the 2025 Chery International Business Conference and the Joyful Wuhu: Chery Group Music Festival. She took her followers on a virtual trip across continents, sharing her journey, challenges, and highlights through heartfelt posts on social media.
In her first update, Pearl detailed her long and dramatic journey from South Africa to Wuhu, China. She posted stunning pictures of her airport travel, stylish outfits, and moments from the conference. “A journey across continents — 10hrs25 from SA to Singapore, 5hrs from Singapore to Shanghai, 1 missed train from Shanghai train station to Wuhu (because why not add a little drama? No jokes, I’m a punctual perfectionist so this stressed me out) and even leaving my makeup bag at home (story for another day, but I almost had a panic attack mid-air over this!),” she shared.
Despite these hiccups, Pearl remained in good spirits, even laughing at her own stress. “I know, I know… first world problems,” she joked. She added, “I have finally arrived in beautiful Wuhu, China. Honoured to be here with @cherysouthernafrica to host the 2025 Chery International Business Conference and the Joyful Wuhu: Chery Group Music Festival with other amazing hosts from different corners of the world. Here’s to insightful conversations & beautiful celebrations!”
In a second post, Pearl reflected on the main event, where she co-hosted the Chery International Business Conference with fellow presenters from around the world. “An unforgettable experience hosting the Chery International Business Conference in China alongside He Zhixiong (China), Jorge (Spain), and Zhao Ping (China),” she wrote. “It was great having all the amazing global dealers and executives who are driving the future of Chery forward.”
To top it all off, Pearl had the chance to visit one of Chery’s state-of-the-art car factories. She was blown away by the futuristic technology and innovation she saw. “I felt like I was in a sci-fi movie,” she said. “No personal recording was allowed inside so you’ll just have to take my word for it. It was the making of cutting-edge design, futuristic tech and next-level innovation!”
Pearl shared some interesting facts she learned during the tour. “Chery is in 80+ countries, has won multiple design awards, and is leading in electric and hybrid tech. Safety is a top priority — they have a global 5-star safety standard with real vehicle crash tests done 1,500+ times a year!”
