South African rapper Fifi Cooper has strongly denied claims that she stole Naledi Aphiwe’s iPhone 16 at a recent event. According to Sunday World, Fifi Cooper responded with clear frustration, telling Naledi to stop spreading lies.
“You are a child, you have a bright future ahead of you, so stop what you are doing,” Fifi said in a video clip shared online.
To understand how it all started, you have to go back to Naledi Aphiwe’s accusations. The rising amapiano star claimed that a well-known celebrity — whose name she didn’t mention at first — had stolen her phone while she was in the bathroom.
“Guys, I was in the loo and as I was washing my hands, I put my iPhone on the counter beside me or in my pocket,” Naledi said in a video she posted online.
She explained that a celebrity came into the bathroom, complimented her on her work, and then walked backwards out of the door. Naledi said a friend standing outside noticed that the celebrity left the event right after that.
“Five minutes later, my phone was recording that it is at Dis-Chem nearby,” she added. “When we got home, we checked again. By now it was at this house in Alexandra.”
Naledi said they thought about going to the house but decided against it and went to the police instead. However, she said opening a case was complicated, so they gave up.
In a sarcastic message to the unnamed thief, Naledi said,
“Congratulations, sisi, now you have yourself an iPhone 12, no, an iPhone 16 that you didn’t sweat for. You’re a top dog. God just snaps his fingers, and you get manna from heaven. You’re a ghost, and we are grateful for your blessings and may God continue blessing you.”
When Fifi Cooper realised people were linking her to the theft, she hit back, saying the story was full of lies.
“Lies, and you are so young. I don’t know how you feel knowing that there’s no truth to anything that you are saying,” Fifi said.
“First of all, I am not your peer. I have been in this industry for more than 18 years. You are not just going to accuse me of things you don’t have proof of. You are not even sure of what you are saying. Your story is all over the place.”
Fifi continued, “My love, you don’t do that. You don’t drag my name in the mud just because you need attention. So many people used the bathroom. Just because I came into the bathroom and you were also there doesn’t mean that I stole your phone. Is it because you know that if you use my name in your post, people will pay attention?”
Fifi said she stayed at the event until the very end and was one of the last people to leave.
“You are a child… you still have a bright future [so] focus on the right things,” she added.
Meanwhile, Naledi Aphiwe shared on Facebook that she bought herself a new iPhone 16 just a day after the alleged theft. She wrote, “You can’t keep a man down. It will not happen in your will.”
On social media platform X, users also shared their opinions. One said, “Nci, this child. Perhaps she is planning on releasing new music, and she’s using this iPhone issue as a form of marketing.”
Another wrote, “I don’t know why she had to drag Fifi Cooper without any proof. This is annoying; accusations without proof are very dangerous.”
Someone else added, “She was probably drunk when she lost her phone and dragged Fifi Cooper.”
