Jack Quaid sat down with Drew Barrymore on “The Drew Barrymore Show” to discuss his new film, “Novocaine”, and his experience filming in Cape Town.

Quaid, known for his roles in “The Boys” and “Novocaine”, shared fond memories of the Mother City. He revealed that while “Novocaine” is set in San Diego, it was actually filmed in Cape Town in 2024.

The actor even shared a stunning selfie from his time there, with Table Mountain as the backdrop.

He went on to describe how much he enjoyed his stay, and from his account, it sounds like he stayed in the V&A Waterfront Marina, where he was woken each morning by the sounds of Cape Fur seals.

“Table Mountain views were so gorgeous,” Quaid said.

“What I loved the most was where I was staying—there was this group of seals by the water,” he said, showing a video of the seals lounging on a wooden platform at the V&A Waterfront.

He described the sounds they made as being like a “jolly man laughing,” which became his favourite noise. “It was the best,” he added before launching into an amusing impersonation of the seals.

Barrymore, who filmed “Blended” with Adam Sandler in South Africa in 2013, reminisced about her time in the country, calling Cape Town a place she “fell in love with.”

Quaid’s new film, “Novocaine”, is about Nathan Caine, a seemingly ordinary man with a rare condition—he cannot feel pain. When the woman he loves (played by Amber Midthunder) is kidnapped, his unique condition becomes an unexpected advantage in his fight to rescue her.
