AmaZulu suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time under Arthur Zwane as they lost 2-1 to TS Galaxy at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Friday.

All of the goals were scored in the opening half as the Rockets grabbed their third win in four matches and extended their unbeaten run to four matches and jumped to third on the Betway premiership standings.

Usuthu on the other hand remained in seventh after failing to secure victory at the third time of asking.

In-form Galaxy striker Dzenan Zajmovic scored his second goal in as many games when he broke the deadlock in the 30th minute.

The 31-year-old was very fortunate to see an Abbubeker Mobara attempted clearance hit his foot last before bamboozling Veli Mothwa in goal to give the visitors the lead.

Nine minutes later and Galaxy found themselves in dreamland as they doubled their advantage through winger Kamogelo Sebelebele.

Having played a big role in the opener, the speedy winger blazed past Mobara’s shoulder to receive a ball behind the AmaZulu defence and composed himself before slotting the on-rushing goalkeeper.

Following a first stanza of frustration, Usuthu established a new lease of life a minute before half time as forward Elmo Kambindu pulled one back in their favour.

The Namibian born attacker applied the finishing touch after a scramble in the Galaxy box for his fourth goal of the season.

Having drawn against SuperSport United and lost against Mamelodi Sundowns, the pressure was on AmaZulu to get back on track as they looked to solidify a place in the top eight.

Under wet conditions,  the game immediately sprung into life as both teams attacked with vigor and at least should’ve been scored in the opening 15 minutes.

Former Kaizer Chiefs man Keagan Dolly called Mothwa into a spectacular save in the 14th minute as he fired from a long way out, if not for Mothwa, the winger would’ve had a goal of the season contender.

The second stanza was more of a dogfight than a football match as both failed to create any clear scoring chances even as they exhausted all of their substitutes.
