As a groom, one would expect your best man to have your back, especially when it comes to his speech.
The best man usually only has good things to say about the groom with a few jokes thrown in between.
But this best man speech didn’t quite go as the groom thought it would.
While all dressed to the nines on their wedding day, the newlyweds were in for a surprise when the best man announced that he once dated the bride.
“I just noticed the connection they had,” he said during his speech during the reception toast to a venue filled with the couple’s friends and family.
Footage of the shocking speech, which has been viewed over 1.5 million times on TikTok, was shared by wedding videographers @ByJoshandMare.
“The laughs they shared together, the way they looked at each other,” the best man continued.
“And you would think it sounds really romantic, but the only problem was I was dating Rachel at the time,” he announced to the crowd.
While one would expect them to be shocked, the couple both burst out laughing instead.
The bride even raised her glass!

Hundreds of people jumped into the comment section to share their views on the unusual speech.
“He was happy that his joke got a good reaction, but you can tell that hurt him,” observed one viewer.
“Guys, it’s not hurt in his eyes. He is still processing the reactions because it was a risky joke that’s it,” responded another.
“He is quite a strong man to be the best man, bro had so much pain in those brown eyes. You can see it,” said another user.
