South African content creator Onezwa Mbola is ecstatic after the overwhelming response to her first-ever pop-up restaurant event. On Monday, Mbola announced “A Harvest Table With Onezwa,” a unique dining experience, and within hours, all 30 tickets for the event were sold out.
“I was not expecting that kind of response and I am so grateful. To everyone who bought tickets, I can’t wait to see you guys,” Mbola said in a video on her Instagram stories.
Set to take place on March 29 in Cintsa, a beautiful village along the Wild Coast of the Eastern Cape, the event will showcase Mbola’s culinary talents through a five-course meal featuring traditional isiXhosa dishes made from ingredients she has grown herself.
“I promise I won’t leave anybody out. Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, I am coming I promise,” she added, hinting at more pop-up events across the country in the future.
Mbola gained a strong following on social media by sharing videos of food she’s grown, raised, or foraged. After her stint on “MasterChef South Africa” season four, Mbola turned her passion for food into a thriving business after facing unemployment.
With the success of her first event, Mbola is well on her way to becoming a prominent figure in South Africa’s food scene, blending tradition and modern culinary creativity.
