Sabato de Sarno exits Gucci after being appointed to the luxury fashion house two years ago. He joined the brand after the exit of Allessandro Michele and according to reports de Sarno failed to produce the hype they needed to rehabilitate the declining sales and fortunes of the house. De Sarno previously worked at Valentino as Fashion Director supervising their men’s and women’s collection.

Sabato produced a collection that was restrained, youthful and stripped clean of what the brand was known for under the helm of Michele. Unfortunately the continual decline in sales and the global downturn of luxury sales became the final nail in the coffin of his future within the brand. The rumour mill is swirling with speculation that Hedi Slimane will potentially be taking the reins of the illustrious design house.

This has come as no surprise as the industry has been rife with creative shifts. Most notably, Dior recently announcing the resignation of Kim Jones at Dior Homme and Matthieu Blazy’s departure from Bottega Veneta.

Gucci has divulged that the Milan FW25 runway show will be lead by their in house design studio and their new Creative Director will be announced in due course. Will Hedi Slimane be the designer to be offered the role and be successful in reviving the fortunes of the House of Gucci? Only time will tell and until then we wait with bated breath for the reveal.
