The Durban’s Super Giants appear to be focused on their next SA20 match against the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, despite a 28-run loss to Joburg Super Kings on Tuesday night.
DSG spinner Prenelan Subrayen said the team immediately got over the loss, but took away lessons from their defeat at Kingsmead.
Subrayen was forthright with the media during a post-match conference, where he defended his team’s one-out-of-three SA20 campaign so far.
The DSG have won one, drawn one and lost one in their opening three matches, and hope to get another home victory against SEC tomorrow evening (5.30pm start).
“The reflection had already started once the guys had come off the field. In terms of dwelling on it, I don’t think there will be any dwelling on it – but there will definitely be learning in terms of what we can do better going forward,” Subrayen said.

The 31-year-old Tongaat-born spinner said the conditions at Kingsmead were typical, especially given the wet weather recently.
“With the amount of rain we had, I think the field was a little heavy, but in terms of the actual wicket, I think it was fine.”
Subrayen bagged JSK’s prized wicket of captain Faf du Plessis in the first over, and the DSG bowlers restricted the visitors to 45/1 in the Powerplay.
Together with his captain, Keshav Maharaj, and Chris Woakes, the trio claimed two wickets each, with Joburg setting 169/7 in their 20 overs.
But DSG’s hopes fell quickly in their innings, as Matthew Breetzke, Brandon King Wiaan Mulder and Jason Smith lost their wicket in the first seven overs.
De Kock and Heinrich Klaasen restored some hope for the hosts, but 22-year-old Sri Lankan paceman Matheesha Pathirana dampened the mood with Klaasen’s wicket.
The left-handed De Kock went on to score 55 off 45 balls, but eventually fell to a Gerald Coetzee delivery.

At no point in the game were DSG desperate for the win, Subrayen added, but it was a matter of “things not clicking on the day”.
“In a long tournament like this, you are not going to play perfectly every single game, but we definitely strive to. We were happy with the score we were chasing. The chat revolved around just backing yourself and skill, and having a calm mind around it. Just didn’t work for us today,” he added.
DSG go into tomorrow’s game fourth of the six team log, with six points and no bonus points.
