Umkhonto weSizwe (MK Party) national organiser, Floyd Shivambu, has welcomed former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) national chairperson, Dali Mpofu, to the MKP.

Shivambu took to X (formerly Twitter) to welcome Mpofu.

“Welcome to the movement which has superior ideological, political, and organisational capacity, composure, and temperament to unite all the anti-colonial, anti-imperialist, and anti-racist progressive forces in South Africa to fight for total political, economic, social, spatial, cultural, and knowledge/ideological freedom and emancipation,” he said.

‘’The MKP is blessed to be joined by capable, disciplined, hard-working, and selfless leaders! It’s no retreat!”

The MKP has been gaining new members recently, following Shivambu’s resignation from the red berets in August to join the party, as well as the recent addition of impeached former Public Protector and EFF Member of Parliament (MP), Busisiwe Mkhwebane.

As reported by , Mpofu explained in an interview on SABC Morning Live that his decision to join the MKP followed significant soul-searching.

He expressed his belief that the MKP is the vehicle through which national and progressive unity can be achieved.

“There’s nothing personal in this, not anything done against any particular person. It’s something I’m doing for my people,” Mpofu said.

He further criticised the Government of National Unity (GNU), calling it a betrayal of the liberation cause.

He emphasised that the MKP aligns with his vision for national unity, which he believes is essential for the country’s future.

“The MKP has remained committed to fostering unity—total black and progressive unity. I believe that true liberation will only be achieved through the MKP,” Mpofu said.
