Tshepo Maseko to Host Showmax’s New Show “Ubuthe Uzobuya,” Premiering October 29

South African television actor Tshepo Maseko is set to host Ubuthe Uzobuya, a compelling new Showmax series premiering on October 29. Produced by Barkers Media, the show tells the emotional stories of individuals left behind by partners who vanished without a trace, leaving their loved ones grappling with unanswered questions and heartbreak.

According to , best  known for his role as Parsons Matabane in Isidingo, Maseko brings his experience as both an actor and presenter to guide participants through these difficult conversations. As they seek answers and hope for reconciliation, the show follows their journey, which is often filled with both painful revelations and emotional reunions.

Mpho Lengane, the executive producer of Ubuthe Uzobuya, shared the inspiration behind the series. “The inspiration for Ubuthe Uzobuya came during the filming of Ngi Shade Wrong. We uncovered stories of men who had left their homelands for the city in search of better opportunities, often leaving their families behind.”

One of the striking stories highlighted by Showmax involves a man who moved from the Eastern Cape to Johannesburg and started a new relationship. When his wife eventually found him, he made the difficult choice to return to his original family, leaving his new life behind.

Maseko’s involvement promises to bring depth to the show, as his ability to connect with participants and navigate emotional complexities has been showcased in his previous work on LithapoStreets of Mangaung, and Gospel Classics. His empathetic presence will be central to the success of Ubuthe Uzobuya, making it a series filled with poignant moments and impactful storytelling.
