Pretoria entertainment destination, Time Square, is redefining the city’s dining landscape with its newly-opened Appetite, a restaurant which blends culinary artistry with rustic elegance.

“Guests are invited to embark on a sensory journey that fuses passion for culinary excellence with an elegantly rustic ambiance to ensure every meal becomes a celebration,” said Time Square Food & Beverage Manager Preshanthan Pillay.

Adding to Time Square’s mix of exceptional dining experiences, Appetite’s menu combines traditional flavours and modern cooking techniques, with a dash of creativity and cupfuls of quality.

Time Square Complex Executive Chef, Adrian Vaughan, said his vision for Appetite was to “deliver an experience that not only delights our guests’ palates but also engages the senses”.

“Our menu shows our commitment to innovation but pays homage to traditional flavours beloved by South Africans, using the finest local and seasonal ingredients. From our interactive breakfast buffets to sophisticated à la carte options for lunch and dinner, we aim to create memorable moments with every dish.”

The restaurant features live cooking stations and interactive dining experiences, allowing diners to immerse themselves in the joy of cooking while savouring dishes that have been meticulously prepared. Meals are complemented by a carefully curated selection of wines and cocktails, enhancing the overall dining experience.

Guests can look forward to a diverse selection of flavours and culinary styles, from tapas to salads, burgers, sandwiches and pastas, to prime grills using Chalmar beef cuts served with Café de Paris butter.

“Appetite is the ideal venue to share some tapas with friends before a big event or concert at the SunBet Arena – think crispy duck bao buns, prawn and sesame toast, Bourbon barbeque ribs, baked chicken wings,” Vaughan said.

For the hungry, Appetite Plates offer hearty Durban lamb curry, oxtail stew, duck confit, butter chicken, fish and chips and more.

“We have also catered to vegetarians with dishes such as the roasted cauliflower steak and butter vegetable curry.”

Creativity comes to the fore with desserts – try a gin and tonic tart, leopard tiramisu, Amarula malva pudding with nartjie crème anglaise or an ice-cream sandwich.

“For those who prefer savoury flavours, tuck into a South African cheese board with pear and saffron chutney and biscuits.”

Appetite’s elegantly rustic setting provides the perfect backdrop for a memorable all-day dining. “The Appetite team is committed to excellence to ensure that every visit is an opportunity for our guests to create memories that last until their next visit,” Pillay said.

For breakfast, Appetite is open every day between 06h30 to 11h00 for hotel guests and other patrons, and then open for lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday.
