After years away from the spotlight, former Generations actress Nambitha Mpumlwana is making a grand return to television. Reported by ZiMoja, she  has been cast in the highly anticipated Showmax series Soft Life, starring alongside other popular actors like Zizipho Buti, Nthabiseng Mokoena, and Nozipho Nkelemba. In the series, Mpumlwana takes on the role of Judge Iris, a character sure to leave a lasting impression on viewers.

Mpumlwana, who became a household name during her time on Generations, had previously made headlines for being labeled difficult to work with and even described as a diva. Yet, in her own words, she attributes these reports to her perfectionism. “I’m a perfectionist,” she acknowledged in past interviews, never shying away from her commitment to excellence.

The veteran actress also opened up during an appearance on The King David podcast last year, revealing that her strong sense of right and wrong often puts her in challenging situations. She shared an incident from 2018 when she was a judge for the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs). Mpumlwana was so disturbed by the content of the controversial film Inxeba, featuring actor Bongile Mantsai, that she refused to judge it. “I couldn’t judge the film; I was offended by the content… I found it offensive and couldn’t keep quiet about it,” she said.

Throughout her storied career, Mpumlwana has starred in numerous acclaimed productions, from Yizo Yizo to Ashes to Ashes and 7de Laan.  Her versatility extends beyond acting—she’s also known for her work as a motivational speaker, MC, and voiceover artist for major brands.
