Middle-order batsman David Miller has reflected on his dismissal in the Protea’s heartbreaking seven-run defeat to India at the T20 World Cup final in the West Indies earlier this year.
With only 16 runs needed in the last over to claim victory, the left-handed batsman attempted to clear the boundary for a six, after Hardik Pandya bowled a wide full toss.
However, Suryakumar Yadav took an outstanding catch at long-off to prevent the ball from going over, turning the game in India’s favour.

After he was back at the pavilion, the Proteas went on to lose the match as Pandya put the squeeze on the Protea’s tail-enders with his exceptional bowling.
Speaking to ESPNCricinfo Miller said it felt like he had let the entire country down.
“I watch a lot of different sport and I always talk about ’the moment’. There are always moments to win the game and I suppose that was the moment to win the game and it was not be be for me.
“So obviously you take it pretty hard I feel like I’ve let the country down, I’ve myself down, I’ve let my teammates down. So it’s quite a difficult moment to unwrap. It was a very like hollow feeling, I almost just didn’t want to walk off the field, I wanted to have another go,” Miller said.
Miller added that he was not the only sportsmen who have had tough moments to get over.
“There’s many other people, sportsmen that have had really tough moments to try and get over, and I’m not the only person it that’ ever happened to,” Miller added.
