AKA And Nadia Nakai Talk Romantic First Date, Matching Tattoos And Babies In Last TV Interview. Nadia and AKA discussed their relationship and in what would be their first and last television interview together on an episode of ‘The Insider SA’ on SABC 3.
Filmed prior to his passing, the late rapper and his girlfriend opened up about their relationship, how it all began and what they love about each other. On how the pair met, Nadia shared that they first met while she was working for a club called ‘Icon’ where she interviewed him.
“I don’t think I know who asked who out, it kind of organically just happened,” AKA said. Nadia then gushed over the couple’s first date which happened at AKA’s house. “Our first date was in your house. You did it, you had candles, incense and a whole shebang going on. The lights were dim… it was a date,” Nadia reminded AKA.
The couple gushed over what they like about each other with AKA saying, “My favourite thing about her is just how caring she is, how loving she is, how family orientated she is, how God orientated she is, how she just wants to make me a better person.”
“My favorite thing I love about you is how much of a leader you are. You lead me in a lot of things, you teach me a lot of things. I also like the fact that you’re so strong in your beliefs and the way that you think is the right way of doing things and I had to learn a lot of that from you,” Nadia told AKA.
Speaking about their matching tattoos’ significance, AKA revealed, “I like the idea of matching tattoos because it’s for life. “So, it’s a sword, Excalibur, which is the sword of King Arthur. And half of the face is a male lion, and the other half is a lioness, and when you put them together, you get the lion king and queen.”
During the interview, Nadia also shared how her future personal plans involved having a baby, to which the late rapper sarcastically replied to saying, “I am sure you do! It’s getting hot.”
The couple also showed viewers how good their culinary flair, with Nadia attributing her good cooking skills to her mother. “I had a lot of influences from my mom, she has a background from Zimbabwe—so like pap and muriwo. She used to make peanut butter chicken, cooking with onions was also something that I learned from my mom. Making nice hotty gravy with your meals,” Nadia said.
AKA shared his love for cooking saying, “I watch a lot of cooking shows so, sometimes I pretend like I am in character on the show. I have hosted many of my cooking shows in my kitchen without cameras, in my mind I am a very successful and accomplished chef.”
