Mihlali Responds To Backlash After Posting An Unflattering Bonang ‘Meme’. Insensitive, intentional or just bad judgement? That’s the debate on black twitter over Mihlali’s recent Instagram story in which she posted a photo of Bonang as a meme to express how she was feeling.
A few hours after Mihlali posted the photo, Bonang trended as twitter trolls commented on how she looked in the photo. This resulted in Mihlali being called out for setting up Bonang to be dragged. “Mihlali is obv aware of her following and her influence so her posting Bonang like that was and is outta pocket. I don’t care what typa interpersonal relationship they have. H8 to see another woman doing another like this,” one tweep said.
In response to the backlash, Mihlali responded to her fan who believes Mihlali is being targeted and being held at a different standard than everyone else who posts memes on social media. “It’s so tired shame, I even post meme’s of MYSELF but because it’s me there must be more to it. Bhod sana,” Mihlali reacted to the backlash.
Bonang and Mihlali seem to share a friendly relationship as both are in the same industry. Bonang has not spoken or reacted to Mihlali’s post or the conversation around it. We wonder if this will change how they interact with other moving forward. Check out what tweeps had to say about Mihlali’s use of Bonang’s unflattering photo below.
