Most South African schools will return for the official second term of the year on April 5, 2022. The mid-year examinations will be taken during this term.

The second term of the year is likely to be free of any disruptions of any kind. There will also be no disruptions due to any coronavirus-related difficulties.

According to scientific study, a first wave of Corona virus is predicted to start around the end of April, causing a few modifications, although this has not yet been proven, as the severity of the following wave is uncertain.

According to the current proposed school calendar for the year 2022, all schools, whether inland or coastal, will open on the same dates.

There will be a total of 6 public holidays in the second semester of the school year. In addition, there will be 53 formal school days.

On the 24th of June 2022, schools will be expected to break for the mid-year holidays. This will provide an opportunity for all school students to rest and prepare for the upcoming school year, which begins in mid-July.

If there are any modifications to the current proposed School calendar, Angie Motsekga, the Minister of Basic Education, will notify the public and those affected as soon as possible.
