Julius Malema Serves Kenny Kunene With R1 Million Lawsuit Following “Cockroach” Comment. We can all agree that Mzansi has the most entertaining politicians of all time and throwing insults at one another has become a norm. One person who is not about to take the B.S lying down is EFF president Julius Malema who did not appreciate Kenny Kunene’s remarks about him. Malema is accusing Kunene of hate speech and tribalism, after calling him a little frog and a cockroach on a public platform.
The Sunday Times has reported that Malema’s lawyers Ian Levitt Attorneys, have sent a letter of demand to Patriotic Alliance party member Kenny Kunene ordering him to retract his previous comments. According to the letter, Kenny’s comments have not only caused “significant reputational damage” to their client but have also dehumanized him .
“Your defamatory statements are meant to impugn the integrity and good name of our client by suggesting, alternatively implying, that he is a criminal, he is subhuman, with the further purpose and/or intent of dehumanising to him and he is harmful to others and is vermin.” the letter states.
The letter instructs Kunene to retract the statements or face being sued for R1 million per insult, making it a total of R2 million. The beef goes back to a comment made by Malema during a press conference saying he cannot imagine the EFF working with the PA and referred to them as bandits.
Clearly the insult did not sit well with Kenny who decided to retaliate during his interview in ENCA. whilst commenting on the local government results, Kunene said he will “deal” with the little frog and irritating cockroach (Malema). Kenny also threatened to hold a press conference to expose Malema and reveal the real reasons why he left the Economic Freedom Fighters.
“Once I am done, I will then deal with this little frog. Julius is just an irritating cockroach that I must now deal with publicly,” Kunene said.
“When I meet him, he must tell me that I am a bantiti [convict] to my face. In the meantime, I will be calling the media and addressing all these issues publicly. After we have done what our people have voted for us to do, we just want to conclude our coalitions and set up our governments — and then I will deal with this little cockroach.” Kunene said.
This is not the first time that the pair have thrown jabs at one another following Kunene’s previous claims about the EFF’s money being used to finance the leaders’ expensive lifestyles. Kunene also warned Mzansi about the looming dictatorship by Malema and his party who are aim to cause anarchy with their political campaigns.
