Babes Wodumo Breaks Her Silence Following Viral Video Of Her Resisting Arrest. Babes Wodumo has taken a step back from her Gqom career to focus on her family. As a newly married woman and new mom, Babes has surely had her hands full but her fans have been worried about her. On Monday, a video of the vocalist crying for help at a petrol station while resisting arrest went viral on twitter.

Social media users have since been sharing their concern about the artist, trying to find out what the back story of the incident was. Speaking to Channel24 , Nondumiso Simelane who is Babes’ sister and PR manager clarified that the incident caught on camera by a bystander is part of a music video shoot and they wanted to capture authentic reactions from the crowd.

We had to make it look real cause we wanted real reactions from the police, and it worked” she said.

According to Nondumiso, the team is proud of how the shoot came out because this means Wodumo’s acting skills are very convincing. The circulating clip sees the award-winning Gqom crying for help while a police officer attempts to get her inside a police vehicle.

The campaign for the video is reportedly inspired by the lyrics “Asiwona amaphoyisa saba layikhaya (We are not the police, we are the home),” which is the message of her upcoming single. Nondumiso added that the creative team wanted to move away from locations that are overrated like the club and the streets, and wanted to take a different direction.

Babes’ sister has apologized for the panic that the video created amongst fans. She assured fans that the artist is fine and they didn’t anticipate the chaos that the video would cause. We don’t know about you but we are definitely ready fro a Babes Wodumo summer comeback.
