Atandwa Kani Clears The Air On Black Panther 2 Casting. Atandwa Kani was part of the South African actors who were cast in Marvel’s Black Panther movie. Kani played the role of the young king T’Chaka in the award winning blockbuster film. Unfortunately the lead actor of the movie Chadwick Boseman passed away after a lengthy battle with Cancer.

Fans of the movie were very heartbroken by the news however, South African fans wanted the production to cast Kani as Boseman’s replacement in the film. One person who was vocal about the idea was former Yizo Yizo actor Fana Mokoena who took to twitter claiming that it’s high time an African actor play an African superhero and called for Marvel Studio’s to consider Kani for the role.

“I honestly think Marvel Studios would do well to consider Atandwa Kani as the next Black Panther. It’s about time an African from Africa played a superhero” Fana wrote.

This was not a feasible plan seeing that Kani was already cast in the film as T’challa’s father T, Chaka but the masses were all in agreement that he would be the best to take over as the Black Panther.

It seems like the rumours of him being cast for the Black Panther role are still on going and he has now come out to pour cold water over the speculations. Taking to social media, Kani made it clear that he has not been cast as the new Black Panther and quite frankly, he has no idea where the rumours stemmed from.

HOLD ON!!! I have NOT been cast as the new black Panther. I don’t know where this rumor came from, but I know nothing of this” he wrote.

It has been confirmed that Boseman’s character will not be replaced in the upcoming sequel which is due for release in July 2022.
