A 34-year-old man makes his appearance in court on alleged charges of attempted murder, murder, and armed robbery.
He was said to have appeared before the Peddie Magistrate court on May 24 and this was contained in a recent statement released by the South African Police Service.

EASTERN CAPE – Mzimkhulu Kana (34) appeared in the Peddie Magistrate court on alleged charges of attempted murder, murder, and armed robbery on 24 May 2021.
It is alleged that on 18 March 2021, suspects were traveling in a Quantum minibus and Ford Ranger on their way to hijack a delivery truck that was transporting various items from Gqeberha to East London. The police are said to have received the information regarding the said vehicles and their criminal intentions thus circulated them.
It is reported that the police came across the vehicles in the Peddie vicinity and gave a chase. A shoot-out ensued between the suspects and the police while the suspects were attempting to flee in their vehicles. One of the suspects fell off the back of the Ford Ranger and died on the scene. Another suspect, Siyabonga Heshu (31) was arrested and appeared in Peddie Magistrate court on 19 March 2021. His bail application was turned down and the matter was remanded for 27 May 2021 where he will be making a formal bail application.
The Quantum minibus fled the scene but information was received about its whereabouts hence the arrest of the driver Kana and seizure of the minibus in Gqeberha on Friday 21 May 2021.
Kana is remanded in custody pending the presence of his legal representative on 26 May 2021.”
