Taking to Instagram, Masechaba shared photos of herself performing a ritual from the ceremony, claiming that this is where her ancestral journey begins.
“A fresh start isn’t a new place, it’s a new mindset. #NtuLulama” she wrote.
Although a lot of her fans were supportive of her new chapter, she did receive a few disapproving comments from critics.
Following her announcement, Masechaba was faced with a lot of scrutiny as to why she posted a ceremony that is known to be sacred on social media. The government spokesperson responded to the backlash by agreeing that such ceremonies are supposed to be respected and kept private but not secret
“You are right, however, just because it’s sacred does not mean it has to be a secret” she responded.
The outspoken Masechaba also explained that every family has a gifted person, claiming that God and the ancestors exist in each and every person. Some of her followers pointed out how having the calling seems to have become a trend with celebrities now days, and has raised a few eyebrows.
This comes a few days after television host Luyanda Potwana also revealed that he has accepted his Ancestral calling and is currently under going training, away from the media.
Other celebs who have also publicly revealed that they are Sangomas include the likes of Boity, Phelo Bala, Lerato Sengadi, Letoya Makhene and many more well known personalities.
