The post was made in the popular South African Facebook group, #ImStaying by one of the patients who were once on admission at the hospital were the doctor works.
The post she made reads;
“Something to make you smile and believe there is still so much good out there.When you laying in a Hospital bed you are faced with so many things, the unknown, the fear and loneliness. As this is the month of love, I found it fitting to share this story with everyone to give them hope, that there still is kindness out there. When you think of being in Hospital you are either just another number or another patient for the Dr’s to add to a list.But there is this one Dr, that had shown true acts of kindness and compassion. We weren’t just sick patients laying in Hospital beds, but we were human beings.He would take the time to get to know the patients and to get to make them laugh and smile. There was an elderly lady in the ward with me and her husband was in the icu ward, they haven’t been apart from each other in over 58yrs. I saw this lady being so depressed and down. But it took this special Dr to take the time to understand the circumstances, Dr V knew there wasn’t any communication between her and her husband and saw the worry this lady was going threw. So he took it upon himself to uplift her spirits and asked if she wanted to tell her husband anything. True to his word when he saw the husband in icu he relayed the message and come back to update this lady. I got to see this lady beaming once more and see her spirits uplifting. She looked forward to the next time Dr V came back with a new message from her dearly beloved. It was a truly inspiring and selfless act. So there are still good Drs out there that still do care for the wellbeing for their patients. I can’t imagine what these Dr’s have to go through on a daily basis, but I commed Dr V for the compassion he shows and shares with his patients. It doesn’t take alot just to make someone’s day. Thank you Dr V for bringing a light back to those who were loosing hope. Your gentle and kind soul has made a huge difference in the way I view life and given me hope that there is still so much.”
