SABC Cancels Top Billing After 23 Years: Twitter Reacts! Top Billing launched the careers of many top TV presenters and made some names even more popular in the industry.
From Jeanie D and Yanez Vermeiren to Lorna Maseko and Jonathan Boynton-Lee to recruiting the likes of Bonang, Ayanda Thabethe and Maps Maponyane, we don’t know a lot of media personalities who didn’t want to be part of the show and now after twenty three years, it won’t be on air anymore.
According to several reports, one of the reason behind the sacking is because Top Billing was never a ratings gold. The show never pulled over a million viewers from as back as 2006. Currently it was sitting around 500k viewers. The Tswelopele Productions show will have its farewell episode this week and it seems it will close off with a feature on Basetsana Khumalo‘s family life.
