Omuhle Gela Explains Why She Refused To Bless A Fan With A Wig! Social media comes with its own pressures that seem to affect a lot of young women’s self esteem and make they feel like they need certain things they can’t afford.

Actress Omuhle Gela recently played responsible big sis to fan who asked her for a big because her friends had wigs and she could not afford one. Taking to Instagram, Omuhle explained why she denied the girl a wig in an attempt to teach other girls the importance of hard work and the difference between a need and a want.

Omuhle explained to the fan that most girls have braids in school and she didn’t necessarily need a weave. She told her that she needed to earn the things she wants.

This reminds me of me growing up. So here’s the thing, I fully understand the pressure there is as a young woman, with social media, slaying etc. truth is , even with us growing up there’s ALWAYS been been peer pressure and it’s always gonna be there.  They (Omuhle’s parents) did however always say NO, when I asked for things I DO NOT need cause they prioritized our education and wat we NEED first,” she explained.

“So don’t fall in the peer pressure trap, focus on school and ur goals. And PLEASE DO NOT ask me for things you don’t need cause I’m not a millionaire I’m just a girl out here trying to make it in life. Like you. Sisonke,” she added.

Without exposing the name of this lady cause I’m genuinely NOT trying to show off can I tell you a little bit about how This reminds me of me growing up. So here’s the thing, I fully understand the pressure there is as a young woman, with social media, slaying etc. truth is , even with us growing up there’s ALWAYS been been peer pressure and it’s always gonna be there. So,I was fortunate to grow up with both parents where I didn’t really lack much cause they worked so hard to give my sister and I what they didn’t have growing up and I’m forever grateful and inspired cause they’re both from poor backgrounds. They did however always say NO, when I asked for things I DO NOT need cause they prioritized our education and wat we NEED first. I wanted a weave (bonding then) so bad but I was reminded how long my hair was and and I don’t need it coz others have it. Eventually I got one for my matric dance and my sister got it for me cause my dad still said I dont need it. So after I finished Film school (varsity) I booked two acting jobs and one radio job. I had 3 jobs bought my first weave ?? I didn’t ask anyone for anything I don’t need cause there are people with bigger problems. I honestly help where I can without even making it a social media thing, I give matric dance dresses to girls who NEED them every single year and don’t post about it to look good coz it’s personal, for them. I also try work very hard to get MYSELF things i (want) , so what do I do besides acting some people ask me.. well I have sleepless nights almost every night cause I’m currently attending DJ lessons, I co own a Catering company and we cater for big functions I never even thought we would do so soon. I also have scripts to read and early calltimes (not everyday) but when I’m not shooting I’m doing that. I’ve just decided to be selective of what I post and LIVE more coz people talk anyway?, some of u guys say I was in Zambia with a man when I was Infact shooting? So don’t fall in the peer pressure trap, focus on school and ur goals. And PLEASE DO NOT ask me for things you don’t need cause I’m not a millionaire I’m just a girl out here trying to make it in life. Like you. Sisonke ♥️??
