Asanda Foji Talks Celebrity Fake Social Media Lives! Everyone wants to be famous and liked on social media, even if they have to buy likes on FB to help get a foot on the social ladder. Once influencer status has been reached, the doors can open to many opportunities for becoming famous, getting sponsorships, and the ever-sought fulfilling lifestyle.

Celeb lives on social media can make most people feel like they’re way behind and not living their best lives. With daily pictures of smiles, holidays, and luxuries, it truly is a picture-perfect lifestyle. This is something former Generations star Asanda understands well. The actress recently opened up about feeling the pressure to keep up with other local celebs who ‘slay’ especially on social media.

Unbeknown to many, it doesn’t take much to keep up like these social media experts. Before it was a social status, only the most successful and popular social media users had lots of likes and followers. These days, however, there is such thing as an Instagram follower app that can help anyone get themselves a healthy follower base. It is not out of reach for people to have anymore, however it can still feel that way, especially when all these accounts seem to be so perfect all the time.

“I was told by friends and industry peers to keep up with other celebs on social media, to do what they do. I was told to smile and act like I was always winning. I felt down, like it was getting to me. It frustrated me that I had to do this to break into the industry and that everyone in the industry acts the same. I felt like cr*p,” she told TshisaLIVE.

The actress admitted she couldn’t keep up with the pressure and continue pretending on social media just to stay interesting:

“People are crying on their bed but have to post pictures of themselves smiling, even if the picture was taken six months ago. I couldn’t continue lying. There was a point where I decided that I didn’t want to do that. Social media didn’t control me.”

“People can be happy when posting on social media. Some can do it 5 times a day and not feel any burnout. But not everyone can do that. We should all understand that it’s ok to step back for a day and say: I need to take care of myself and my needs first.”
