Rebecca Malope is without a question South Africa’s favourite gospel musician on TV, she has been in the music industry for more than 20 years and her television career has been unquestionably stable as the host of Gospel Time on SABC 2.
Miss Malope has received the chance to add something new to her oh so impressive resume. She recently had an interview with Move magazine and told them that she will debut her acting career on e.tv’s Ekasi: Our Stories.
Rebecca will be portraying the character of ‘Candy’; a modern take on a promiscuous woman who sleeps with numerous men to stay alive and make ends meat.
On how she got the gig? Rebecca says that she was actually approached by the producers of the short films to join their cast.
“I was surprised when I was approached by the producers,” she told the magazine.
“I laughed the idea of acting off when they told me they wanted to cast me. I have never acted in my life, but they really liked me.”
Rebecca also goes on to express that she thought that acting would be more difficult.
“I must confess acting is not as difficult as I thought it would be,” she said.
