Samsung delays announcement of Exynos 2200 chip that will equip Galaxy S22 –

Samsung stated on December 30th that the new Exynos 2200 processor would be officially announced on January 11th. Behold, we arrive on January 12th and there are no signs of the official presentation that should have happened yesterday. Samsung claims that the announcement has been moved to the launch of the Galaxy S22 and that there are no production or processor performance issues.

In a press release, Samsung Electronics guarantees that the change took place in consideration of the consumer’s agenda – regardless of what that may mean – and that “we plan to reveal our new processor in time for the launch of the new Samsung smartphone.”

It is also said that the processor “has no production and performance problems”, contrary to rumors that point out that this may be “the worst Android chipset” on the high-performance market, falling behind both Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and the Dimensity 9000. from MediaTek.

Samsung had posted on its social media a teaser highlighting the new processor stating that “play time is over”, nudging Qualcomm and indicating that the real competitor to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 would be arriving on January 11. The post has been deleted.

Samsung is expected to present the new Exynos 2200 in the coming weeks, as recurring leaks point out that the announcement of the Galaxy S22 line takes place on February 8.

Samsung’s high-performance processor will use a GPU developed in partnership with AMD and will adopt the RDNA2 architecture — the same as in high-end consoles — enabling gaming advancements such as developers’ use of ray tracing for accurate lighting and reflections.
