Windows 11 gains support for Android apps and new pack in February –

February will be a busy month for Windows 11 updates, reveals the head of Windows product, Panos Panay, this Wednesday (26). A working preview of Android app support, new Taskbar updates, and reworked native apps like Media Player and Notepad will finally be released to the general public.

“Next month, we’ll bring new experiences to Windows that include a public preview of how Android apps can be used on Win 11 through the Microsoft Store.” The occasion will also show what partnerships with Amazon and Intel are for in this feature.

There are no details on what this preview will look like, but the announcement signals that Android Subsystem for Windows (WSA) will be released — at least in part. The function is not new, as it was introduced in June of last year and has been tried out by members of the Windows Insider program since October.

New native apps

The long-awaited renewal of Notepad and the return of Media Player will also be part of the package. Both entered tests in the previews of Windows 11 some time ago and promise to deliver updated experiences of the classic programs, without hurting the original proposal.

For the Taskbar, the new features are also valuable in terms of usability. “News and Weather” is back in the section, now integrated into the widgets tray; the new button to mute the microphone is also expected to debut, helping users who participate in multiple rooms not forget about open audio.

still no forecast

The news will be included next month, but will probably arrive in parts. There is no timeline for when the features will be introduced, but they will all be distributed via Windows Update, perhaps in optional builds.

So, to ensure that the features arrive on your computer as soon as they are released, keep an eye on your system notifications and, of course, the Kenyannews.
