Mousa Dembele retires –

According to Belgian media DH Les Sport +, midfielder Mousa Dembele is quitting football. The 34-year-old Belgian midfielder, who was under contract with Chinese club Guangzhou City until last December, will not extend his football career elsewhere. The former Tottenham player who was nevertheless coveted by several clubs in Belgium puts an end to his adventure as a professional player to devote himself to his family.

Dembele played his last game in August 2021, he has since suffered from a chronic ankle injury. The former Red Devils midfielder who played in Belgium, the Netherlands, England and then China will have played a total of 578 professional matches during his career, scoring 62 goals and providing 49 assists.
