New Samsung TV Remote Control Charges Using Wi-Fi –

The first week of 2022 not only marks the arrival of a new year but also the realization of the Consumer Electronic Show, one of the world’s leading technology events. And among new televisions presented at CES 2022, Samsung unveils its newest remote control that now recharges via Wi-Fi as well.

Last year the South Korean giant added a solar panel to the back of its TV remotes, removing the batteries altogether and now offering a battery that recharges by sunlight and even light bulbs, as well as being rechargeable via USB.

Now the accessory update allows the battery to also recharge using the power of the Wi-Fi router’s radio waves.

In a note, Samsung claims that the harvesting of energy from the radio waves is continuous and keeps the control fully charged while users watch TV, being useful for darker environments where the television is installed.

As we see above, the control now adopts a new design with four shortcut buttons at the bottom instead of the three as it was in the previous generation.

In contrast to the new, less polluting control, Samsung announced the arrival of NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) to its television systems.

Voted word of the year by the British Collins English Dictionary, the NFT allows internet users to expose their wealth by acquiring unique and exclusive images, publications and GIFs (which can cost US$4 million), but to keep the network alive is necessary large amounts of energy, and that’s why NFT could be the new villain of global warming.

The new remote and support for NFTs come to the new 2022 Samsung TVs, which start shipping in the coming months.
