People on the streets of Belfast said they were relieved there would be no pre-Christmas election.
Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Heaton-Harris had said he would call another poll after the deadline to restore power-sharing passed last week.
But he rowed back from this on Friday.
BBC News NI got the views of people in Belfast, who urged politicians at Stormont to “get their act together”.
