In pictures: Snow and ice hit parts of Scotland

Parts of north and north east Scotland have been affected by heavy snow showers and freezing temperatures.

Shetland, Orkney, Western Isles and the Highlands have experienced the worst of the conditions.

Snow closed schools and disrupted flights at Stornoway Airport on Lewis.

A yellow Met Office weather warning for the snow and ice is in place until Wednesday morning.
