Local official: Blast in Istanbul produces casualties

Nov. 13 (UPI) — A blast in Istanbul on Sunday has resulted in people being killed and injured, a local government official announced.

The explosion happened on the Turkish city’s Istiklal Street at around 4.20 p.m. local time, Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya wrote in a Twitter post.

“According to initial reports, 4 people lost their lives and 38 were injured in the explosion that took place on Istiklal Street,” he wrote in an update. “Our wounded are being treated.

“We wish God’s mercy on those who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to the injured,” he added.
