“That’s why they cannot survive doing criminal work, and that’s why they’re walking away,” Ms Heeley said, saying the situation impacted the diversity of the law profession. “It improves incrementally after that, but unless you’re getting that new blood in, where do the mid-ranking barristers come from? Where do the senior barristers come from?”
