For Andrea Moore, 150 miles away in Cardiff, hotter summers are an increasing concern. The former catering worker has COPD, a chronic lung condition that causes difficulty breathing, chest pain and chest infections. Like Jorda, Andrea’s condition worsens in the heat and on Monday, as Wales recorded its hottest day on record, she sat indoors and felt rough.
