OL concede a draw on the lawn of Lens –

In difficulty against Lens, OL could not do better than a draw on the lawn of RC Lens (1-1). A result that does not suit either team.

After a disappointing first half of the season, Olympique Lyonnais is doing better in 2022 and is continuing its rise towards European places. Despite a defeat in Monaco (0-2), OL remained on four wins in five games and a nice success against Nice (2-0) before moving to the lawn of RC Lens eager to regain the top places. Without Dembélé, Cherki and Denayer, Bosz opted for a 4-2-3-1 with new recruits Ndombele and Faivre, as well as Kadewere at the forefront.

Quickly, OL got off to a good start in their match and caused danger in the first minutes. But on a first counter-attack from Lens, Kalimunendo missed his duel in front of Lopes… who pushed the ball directly to Clauss. The piston concluded a nice strike in the empty goal to open the scoring (1-0, 13th). In difficulty after this goal scored, OL avoided the worst after a disallowed goal for Fofana, who had touched the ball with his hand on his control (37th).

RC Lens held up well

And OL found the resources to equalize at the best of times. After a sublime cross from Toko Ekambi at the far post, Kadewere pulled away to deflect the ball into the back of the net before returning to the locker room (1-1, 44th). After the break, the two teams did not really manage to make a difference, the best opportunity being this missed duel from Paquetá, who missed the target after a nice serve from Kadewere (75th), before a heavy shot from Fofana deflected on the bar by Lopes (80th).

Finally, after a very lively end to the meeting, Lensois and Lyonnais separate in a draw which will have been lively, but which does not help anyone. Lens remains in eighth place and will have to relaunch against Angers, during the next day. OL remain provisionally fifth in Ligue 1 before receiving Lille.
