Apparently, Microsoft is preparing a major update for Windows 11 testers. After an unusual hiatus of updates last week, sources say that the company is preparing a package full of important features for the system.
Perhaps, the additions of this mystery pack will only be released in the big annual Windows 11 update, expected for the second half of the year. This hypothesis starts from the number of this supposed wave of experimental builds, which jumps from the numbering 22543 to 250xx (“x” replacing variables of smaller packages”).
It’s hard to predict what’s new, but while some of them might come out of community demand, others might be ideas that Microsoft let slip in public presentations. Here are four big additions coming soon to Windows 11:

4. Apps folder in Start Menu
Instead of having a single grid of apps, the Start Menu will now allow the use of shortcuts for apps in folders, as Windows 10 allows in Live Blocks. The addition increases the usability of the section, allowing for a more refined organization of items.
3. Snap Bar
Currently, you can arrange windows on the screen by dragging them to the edges of the screen or by right-clicking on the “maximize” icon. The Snap Bar would be an extra method: when dragging a program, a bar with different layout options would appear at the top of the screen.
2. New gestures for tablets
In the future, it may be possible to access the Start Menu using gestures — dragging from the bottom of the screen to the center, for example. The addition would be important to improve the usability of Windows 11 tablets and notebooks with touchscreens.
1. More transparent look
The “Acrylic” material can be used in title bars in the future, composing the screen with more transparency effects. This addition was seen on a Microsoft broadcast earlier this year.
Update without forecast
While the update has valuable features to improve the usability of Windows 11, it may take longer for it to reach PCs subscribed to the Dev Channel — precisely because they are more complex and bug-prone additions. For now, there is no confirmation that these news will be released, as Microsoft wants to try features that may never “get off the ground”.
According to MSPowerUser website sources, the next update would be known internally at MS as “Sun Valley 2”. It is very likely that Microsoft will make a bigger presentation when the package is finally released to users registered in the Windows Insider program.
