Samsung Galaxy S22 undergoes resistance tests against water, scratches and more –

Officially launched recently, the Galaxy S22 has water and dust resistance through IP68 certification, which guarantees the correct operation of the device even after being submerged in up to 1 and a half meters of fresh water for 30 minutes. This feature was tested in a video posted on the PBKreviews channel on YouTube, which also evaluated other aspects of the cell phone’s durability.

In total, the device was underwater for almost a minute and two seconds, and all the while the phone’s screen behaved turbulently, when triggering unwanted commands. It is likely that the situation was caused by the high sensitivity of the display, and not necessarily because of the liquid entering the inside of the cell phone.

Even so, the Galaxy S22’s features continued to function as normal after the device was taken out of the water — not even the camera components seem to have been affected.

Galaxy S22 received a ten in durability

The display’s scratch resistance was tested next. The device has Gorilla Glass Victus Plus certification, which ensured the screen’s survival even with scratches made with a level seven material on a hardness scale, ranging from two to nine. On the back, the cover has an outer material that shows marks from level four onwards — however they can be cleaned quickly, while permanent damage is only seen from level eight onwards.

The Galaxy S22 has a fingerprint sensor under the screen, which has not stopped working normally with the scratches on the display surface. In addition, the device’s construction features metal on the camera module and sides — with the exception of the plastic section that houses the 5G mmWave antenna — while the lenses are coated with glass and the flash cover is plastic.

The cell also passed the stress test, in which a force is applied to the central section to assess whether the structure breaks in half. The device was slightly bent, but it didn’t break or suffer other types of more serious damage — in the sum of all the evaluations, the Galaxy S22 earned a note of ten in terms of durability.
