Do you think you are ugly in photos, but not in the mirror? we have the explanation –

Many people complain that the image reflected in the mirror sometimes does not match what is seen in the photos. But which reproduction is most faithful to the true picture? The one in the mirror or the one in the photo? Fortunately, science already has some explanations for what happens.

Although people are most familiar with the reflection in the mirror, it shows the opposite image. Therefore, the human being is so used to the inverse version of his image, that the photos end up causing strangeness, since the facial structure is asymmetrical.

According to experts, people react favorably to the things they are most used to. So the inverted version (which is actually the “right” version) of itself generates this aversion. So it doesn’t exactly mean we look better in the mirror. It is a psychological inclination to believe this.

But it is also necessary to consider that the photo does not necessarily correspond to its “real” version: there is a whole issue of angles, lighting and even certain distortions promoted by the lens. It turns out that with the camera’s proximity, the lens can make some features appear larger than they are in real life.

A strong flash can also “damage” your features, especially if the photo is taken in a dark room, making your face look shiny and oily. Experts also point out that cameras can’t adjust to light and dark the way our eyes can.

On the other hand, we have bad news: in a study published in the scientific journal Personality and Social Psychology Bulletinscientists experimented with a series of photographs (some edited, some not) and found that people tend to believe they are more attractive than they really are.

Of course, the study was just a sample, and several experts say just the oppositethat the tendency is toward self-depreciation. Anyway, everything is much more a question of the psychological than the mirror or the photograph itself.
