Two foreigners among six suspected thugs arrested in Kajiado –

Six suspected gangsters have been arrested in Kitengela, Kajiado County.

The suspects, including a university student, Burundian and Tanzanian, were arrested in connection to a spate of robbery with violence incidences in Kitengela town and its environs.

The suspects are believed to be masterminds behind the increased robbery with violence incidences in Kitengela and its environs.

The six were flashed out from their hideouts in Mlolongo town.

Isinya Deputy County Commissioner Justus Musau said DCI detectives were pursuing other suspects on the run.

The six were arrested by sleuths from Kitengela and Mlolongo police stations, Machakos County, in a sting operation to crack down on criminals terrorizing residents in Machakos and Kajiado counties.

Both Mlolongo and Kitengela towns’ residents have complained of increased insecurity, especially in the last four months.

Musau said detectives pounced on the suspects following a tip-off from the public and forensic data analysis.

The criminal gang is said to have been operating in the most cavalier manner, targeting high-end estates, where they force their victims to withdraw cash from all mobile money apps in their phones before getting away with electronics.

Police recovered an assortment of electronics that included television sets, hoofers, guitars, laptops and mobile phones during the operations.

Several mobile phone sim cards and ATM cards were also recovered stashed in a bible.

A gateway saloon car used by the suspects was also impounded during the operations.

Musau said police were on high alert to curtail operations of criminal gangs terrorizing residents, especially in Kitengela town.

The suspects have been held up at Kitengela police station awaiting to be arraigned in Kajiado Law Courts on Monday.

The incident happened barely a week after two people were arrested and more than 52 stolen phones and laptops recovered in a sting operation in Mlolongo.

The two were arrested by the DCI detectives attached to the Mlolongo police station.

The suspects were arrested on February 2 and 3, 2022.

The detective, who sought anonymity, said the criminals operate within Nairobi town, Mlolongo, Athi River and Kitengela town in Kajiado County.

Both the suspects were arrested in their hideouts within Mlolongo town. Police believe the two are part of the syndicate involved in criminal activities in the area.

“Jointly with our DCI counterparts from Kitengela police station, we conducted an operation that led to the arrest of the two suspects and recovery of the mobile phones and laptops,” the detective earlier told the Star.

Mlolongo DCI officers handed over the duo to their colleagues attached to Kitengela police station where they were held.
